Primary Care Assistant (PCA) - Ashburton
Permanent full time Primary Care Assistant (PCA) at Tend Ashburton, Canterbury clinic.
Tend is a modern GP practice with multiple clinics in Canterbury. We are hiring for a Primary Care Assistant for our Ashburton clinic.
You will be tasked with the initial patient interaction, medical admin, assisting clinicians & general in clinic duties.
We offer a competitive salary with ability to grow your career as our PCA's play a vital role in the delivery of our healthcare services. This is a full time permanent position (0.8 - 1.0FTE). You will be responsible for:
- Undertaking administrative tasks in order to maintain the smooth and effective running of the service
- Managing patient recall and screening records (e.g. immunisations, cervical smear, CVRA) in partnership with the nursing team
- Maintaining accurate patient records - documenting all communication and care provided
- Effectively communicate with patients and members of the healthcare team
- Contributing to quality improvement initiatives and their implementation in practice
- Engaging in professional development opportunities that support your role as a PCA.
You will be responsible for the following Clinical Tasks also (training provided):
- Perform Urine dipstick and Pregnancy testing
- Perform Weight and height measurements of patients/ BMI’s
- Perform Temperature monitoring
- Perform Blood Pressure monitoring
- Perform Heart rate monitoring
- Perform Pulse Oximetry (SpO2)
- Perform Blood glucose testing
- Perform ECG recordings
- Perform Visual acuity testing
- Perform RAT testing /Covid testing
- Assisting with young children where necessary
We have a diverse range of clinicians & experienced non-clinical team working onsite
Your skills:
- NZQA qualification at level 3 or equivalent/above
- Preference for NZQA Level 4 NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing or willingness to work towards
- Previous work experience in a healthcare setting, preferred.
- Strong learning ability and agility to work in a dynamic environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills across multiple channels, including in-person, messaging software(s), phone and digital platforms
- Ability to prioritise and multi-task in a busy environment
- Be collaborative and solutions-led.
