Tend is a modern GP practice with multiple clinics in Canterbury. We are hiring for a Primary Care Assistant for our Ashburton clinic.

You will be tasked with the initial patient interaction, medical admin, assisting clinicians & general in clinic duties.

• Undertaking administrative tasks in order to maintain the smooth and effective running of the service
• Managing patient recall and screening records (e.g. immunisations, cervical smear, CVRA) in partnership with the nursing team
• Maintaining accurate patient records - documenting all communication and care provided
• Effectively communicate with patients and members of the healthcare team
• Contributing to quality improvement initiatives and their implementation in practice
• Engaging in professional development opportunities that support your role as a PCA.

You will be responsible for the following Clinical Tasks also (training provided):

• Perform Urine dipstick and Pregnancy testing
• Perform Weight and height measurements of patients/ BMI’s
• Perform Temperature monitoring
• Perform Blood Pressure monitoring
• Perform Heart rate monitoring
• Perform Pulse Oximetry (SpO2)
• Perform Blood glucose testing
• Perform ECG recordings
• Perform Visual acuity testing
• Perform RAT testing /Covid testing
• Assisting with young children where necessary

Your skills: 

• NZQA qualification at level 3 or equivalent/above
• Preference for NZQA Level 4 NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing or willingness to work towards
• Previous work experience in a healthcare setting, preferred.
• Strong learning ability and agility to work in a dynamic environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills across multiple channels, including in-person, messaging software(s), phone and digital platforms
• Ability to prioritise and multi-task in a busy environment
• Be collaborative and solutions-led.
