Help shape the future of healthcare in Aotearoa
Auckland preferred | Permanent, Full-time | High-impact technology leadership
At Tend, we're on a mission to make Kiwis one of the healthiest people in the world. As a New Zealand-owned, iwi-backed healthcare company, we combine digital and in-clinic care to make great healthcare more accessible for whānau across Aotearoa.
We're growing rapidly and technology plays a central role in bringing together one of the largest primary care ecosystems in New Zealand. This is a rare opportunity to help lead one of the most significant healthcare integrations in the country.
The opportunity
We're looking for an experienced IT Manager who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and getting things done. This is not a steady-state environment or a role for someone who has stepped away from the technical detail.
Reporting directly to our COO (recognised as one of New Zealand's Top 10 CIOs), you'll own the technology foundations that keep Tend running and help shape how we scale into the future. You'll partner closely with our Managed Service Providers, drive our cybersecurity uplift, and help integrate newly acquired clinics onto a single, modern platform.
If you thrive on solving complex problems, simplifying fragmented environments, and delivering meaningful outcomes, we'd love to hear from you.
What you'll be responsible for
You'll own the technology that powers our clinics and support offices, including:
Infrastructure, networks, telephony, servers and end-user devices.
Technology outside product and platform engineering.
Vendor and Managed Service Provider relationships.
Cybersecurity, compliance and risk management.
Consolidating and modernising multiple IT environments.
Supporting growth and acquisitions through strong technical foundations.
Leading and growing a small internal IT team.
Delivering reliable and responsive technology experiences across our clinics and support office.
What success looks like
Within your first year, you'll have:
Established a clear view of the IT landscape and commenced a consolidation roadmap.
Improved MSP performance and reduced dependency risks.
Progressed our security uplift and alignment with HISO and NCSC standards.
Delivered reliable technology experiences across the business.
Built the technical foundations needed to support seamless clinic integrations.
About you
You'll bring:
Deep technical credibility and a hands-on approach.
Strong experience across infrastructure, cloud, identity, networking and security.
Proven success managing vendors, contracts and commercial relationships.
Experience delivering technical projects and balancing strategy with execution.
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, no-surprises style.
A continuous improvement mindset and a commitment to doing the right thing for patients and colleagues.
Bonus points if you've worked with:
Google Workspace and cloud-native SaaS environments.
Microsoft 365, Azure and Entra.
SIEM, SAML, SCIM and MFA technologies.
Multi-site infrastructure consolidation.
Healthcare technology or managed services environments.
Why Tend?
Meaningful work that improves health outcomes for New Zealanders.
A chance to help shape the future of primary healthcare.
Direct access to senior leadership and genuine influence.
The opportunity to build and grow a team.
A fast-moving, collaborative environment where people care deeply about what they do.
A culture that values curiosity, ownership and continuous improvement.
Ready to make an impact?
If you're a technically strong leader who enjoys building, simplifying and solving meaningful problems, we'd love to hear from you!
